Stump Grinding and Removal
The takedown is only half the goodbye. The stump keeps sitting there: too low to use, too high to mow over, sprouting suckers every spring. We grind it below grade and let the lawn close over it.
Stump removal and stump grinding are both on our services list, and for most yards grinding is the right call. The grinder chews the stump down below the surface of the lawn, the hole gets filled, and in a season you will have to look for where the tree used to be.
It does not matter whether we took the tree down or you inherited the stump with the house. Fresh cut or twenty years gray, one stump by the mailbox or a whole yard of them, it is the same visit.
If you are planning a removal with us, ask for grinding in the same quote and the job finishes properly: tree down, wood handled, stump gone, yard back to being a yard.
One thing worth knowing before you compare quotes: grinding is a separate operation with a separate machine, so it belongs on the quote as its own line, and cutting a trunk flush to the ground is not the same thing. How deep do you grind a stump?
Below the surface of the surrounding lawn, deep enough that grass can grow over the spot and a mower never finds it. If you are planning to replant or build in that spot, say so when we quote and we plan the grind around it.
What is left after grinding?
A shallow depression and a pile of wood chips where the stump stood. Tell us how you want it left when we quote the job.
Will the tree grow back after grinding?
Grinding below grade takes out the part of the stump that keeps sending up shoots, which is exactly why we do it instead of cutting the stump flush and hoping.
